No. In Mode 1 (Lossless Binary Strip), CleanAITags never decodes or re-compresses your image pixels or video stream. For JPEG, it preserves the exact compressed entropy scan (SOS 0xFFDA to EOI 0xFFD9), quantization tables (DQT), and APP2 ICC color profiles while slicing out only metadata segments. For MP4/MOV, it zeroes C2PA/XMP boxes in-place into ISO free boxes without touching a single video frame.
Why did Instagram or TikTok still flag my file after using another EXIF cleaner?+
Conventional EXIF cleaners only remove the TIFF IFD inside JPEG APP1. However, C2PA Content Credentials live in JPEG APP11 (0xFFEB), PNG caBX chunks, and MP4 uuid atoms, while IPTC DigitalSourceType lives in XMP packets. CleanAITags removes all of those containers simultaneously.
What is the difference between Mode 1 (Lossless) and Mode 2 (Pixel Shield)?+

Why does MP4/MOV cleaning overwrite boxes with 'free' instead of shrinking the file?+
MP4 and QuickTime MOV files store a sample table chunk offset index (stco or 64-bit co64) that points to exact byte offsets inside the mdat media stream. Shifting byte offsets without rebuilding the entire muxer table would corrupt video playback. By converting uuid (C2PA), XMP_, and udta boxes into standard ISO BMFF free padding boxes filled with 0x00 bytes, all AI metadata is permanently erased in under 0.1 seconds while keeping every frame offset 100% valid.
